NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) Course

The NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) course is a non-shooting classroom-only course but may include visiting a range facility. The NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) program is designed to certify individuals who can effectively organize, conduct, and supervise safe shooting activities and range operations. The RSO course focuses on safety and does not encompass the functions of a Range Officer who conducts competitive shooting events.

NRA Credentialing Fees (Effective February 1, 2026)
NRA membership is not required to attend this course or to obtain NRA RSO certification. However, the NRA implemented a revised Trainer Credential Fee Structure effective February 1, 2026.
Initial Credentialing Fees:
- NRA Member: $40
- Non-Member: $175
Additional Rating Activation:
- Member: $20
- Non-Member: $40
Because of this updated structure, many students choose to obtain NRA membership before activating their RSO credential. While membership is entirely optional, the cost difference between member and non-member credentialing is significant.
